Meet the Founder


The renowned inventor Dean Kamen is a man who has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others through technology. Besides gaining fame for creating the Segway Personal Transporter, he has uplifted countless lives by creating sophisticated robotic wheelchairs, portable dialysis machines, and most recently, a water purification system designed for the 1.1 billion people without access to clean water. The founding of FIRST is one of Dean Kamen's proudest accomplishments in his already impressive record; FIRST participants are well prepared to create the world-changing innovations of tomorrow.
